Service Description

Detailed field assessments will allow for the classification of environmental factors for biodiversity planning at a farm as part of the BC Environmental Farm Plan. The main goal of these surveys will be to classify the ecosyetem, species, and genetic diversity. Critical Habitat polygons will be assessed, along with wildlife corridors, Species at Risk, and migratory bird nests as laid out in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, Wildlife Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act, and the Species at Risk Act. Baseline information on native and invasive species will be assessed to hinder invasive growth while encouraging native species. Areas of specific importance on the property will be assessed and corridors will be retained or installed when possible. Vegetation genetic and structural diversity will be encouraged and when natural vegetation is not possible, semi-natural vegetation will be encouraged. Pollinator plants will be assessed and varied native pollinator plants will be used to encourage native pollinator success. Crop resiliency and onsite water retention methods will be assessed to increase climate change resiliency. Soils and watercourses will be assessed and tested to determine if natural processes are functioning adequately. These processes include soil formation, retention, production, nutrient breakdown/cycling, organic carbon, and organic material buildup. Any livestock, tillage, GMO, fertilizer, and pesticide effects will be assessed and addressed as required. Wildlife access will also be assessed to restrict human-wildlife conflicts. Please note that some surveys can only be completed in certain work windows. If required book "Additional RPBio Field Time" to add survey time without affecting the reporting time. Trips more than 50 km from Penticton may be subject to additional mileage fees at standard rates. Please direct questions to the "Add Your Message" or "Contact Me" for more information. Prices include 5% GST (GST # 743529877RT001). All projects are estimated based on an average project estimation. In rare cases the scale of the project may exceed the number of hours in the estimate. In such cases, the extra hours will be billed at the standard hourly rate outlined in the 1 hr of unspecified field work listed above.
